Welcome to the website of ESSEE2015, the 7th European Summer School on Electrochemical Engineering, which was held June 22-26 (Mon-Fri), 2015 in the vibrant city of Leeuwarden, the Netherlands!
ESSEE2015 is organized once every three years under the auspices of the European Federation of Chemical Engineers (www.efce.org). In the Summer School, PhD students and other young researchers come together to learn about advanced topics in Electrochemical Engineering. As such, the school helps PhD students and young researchers in their current and future research in electrochemical engineering & science.
The diverse program consisted not only of lectures by renowned scientists from Europe, Asia and the USA, but also offered students to present their research during a poster session (and award). Moreover, participants chose between an experimental or theoretical workshop track during which the information taught during lectures was consolidated. Last but not least a hands-on lab tour at Wetsus, many social activities and a sparkling gala dinner made the school an absolute must!
We are very proud we reached the maximum number of participants of 100 within 45 days after opening the registration, and we enjoyed a fruitful and inspiring summer school!
"We look back at a very great summer school. Have a look at the pictures!"
ESSEE 2015 Latest News & Announcements
Dear participants, Please find in the download page all the lecture slides updated. Practical workshop manuals can also be found in the same page. This week, we welcome over 100 participants for the 7th edition of the European Summer School Electrochemical Engineering (ESSEE2015). The maximum number of participants was reached shortly after opening the registration. The participants learn about Electrochemical Engineering, knowledge required for the development of sustainable water treatment and energy production technologies. Therefore, 22 lecturers came to Leeuwarden. Yesterday all participants presented a poster with the results of their own research. Both the audience and a professional jury judged the posters and decided that Kristina Wedege from Aarhus University (Denmark) presented the best poster. Kristina presented a very clear poster that illustrated how energy can be stored on the roof of your own house employing an electrochemical technology. Therefore, we honour this work with the Magneto Poster Award, together with 500 euro. Wetsus thanks the sponsors that contributed to ESSEE2015: Gemeente Leeuwarden, Provincie Fryslân, IVIUM Technologies, COMSOL, Magneto Special Anodes B.V., Princeton Applied Research, Metrohm-Autolab, International Society for Electrochemistry and the European Federation of Chemical Engineering. The maximum number of 100 participants for ESSEE2015 has been reached. This means a waiting list has been opened for new registrants.
